If you've been following my blog for a while, you may have come to realise that Clarins is one of my favourite skincare brands. They are the UK's number 1 premium skincare brand and in my opinion, they totally deserve to be. However, brands are often leaders in one field, not jack of all trades so I was skeptical about trying a foundation from Clarins.
My personal preference for a foundation is a natural-satin finish with light to medium coverage, so on paper, this is perfect for me.. Lets talk about packaging first. It's a simple glass bottle design - sleek and elegant but not travel friendly. Although, I'm not a fan of plastic bottles - I think they look cheap and the writing rubs off rather easily. It come with a pump dispenser, so there's no spilling it or pouring out too much. So on the packaging front, it's a win.
The product? It gives a light to medium coverage, depending on application technique and amount applied. For a lighter finish, using a beauty blender or your fingers will really provide a natural, light coverage. For a slightly more fuller coverage, use a buffing brush to apply the product and just blend the edges with a beauty blender.
In terms of formula, it's lightweight and luminous. It isn't the longest wearing foundation - I notice that the centre of my face often wears off by the end of the day and I don't have an oily t-zone.. It does have a slight smell, almost fruity.. Nothing offensive and nothing that lasts but I though I'd mention it.
All in all, it's a nice foundation but not something I'd wear on a night out or for a long day but just a general day. It gives a nice glow to the skin without looking heavy. It's almost perfect.. Almost.
